Team Exide excels at Gunners Supercross 2014

Team Exide performed well throughout this year’s racing calendar, starting off the year with nine [9] trophies at the Sigiriya Rallycross in April and continuing to win many accolades at every racing event throughout the year. At the Gunners Supercross, Team Exide also performed exceptionally well, walking away with nine awards as well as the Overall Driver and Rider Championships. Aravinda Premadasa walked away with the Overall Driver Championship while Shehan C. Adikari won the Overall Rider Championship. Team Exide’s top drivers, both Premadasa and Rohitha Rajapaksa emerged winners of their respective categories. Premadasa won both races held under the Group-SL-GT cars up to 3500cc category, while the Group-SL-A Modified Cars Up to 1050cc was won by Rajapaksa. Riders Adikari and Lahiru Jeewantha also emerged victorious. Adikari came in first place in the Group MX Motorcycles-over 175cc up to 250cc (4T) and over 100cc up to 125cc (2T) - Race 01 category, while Jeewantha won both races held under the Group M-STD/MOD Motorcycles - over 175cc up to 250cc (4T) and the over 100cc up to 125cc (2T) category. Adikari also came in second in the Group MX Racing Motorcycles - over 100cc Up to 125cc (2T) and Group MX Motorcycles - over 175cc up to 250cc (4T) and over 100cc up to 125cc (2T) - Race 02 categories. Chaminda Weerasuriya came in third in the Group - SLN Cars - Ford Laser/ Mazda 1500cc category. Held earlier this month, in the Thamankaduwa Region Artillery track in Minneriya, the Gunners Supercross featured over 120 leading racing drivers and riders. This prime motorsport event, on its 9th year, was organised by the Regiment of Artillery in association with the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers’ Association (SLADA). Team Exide is a fully equipped motor racing team comprising Aravinda Premadasa, Rohitha Rajapaksa, Chaminda Weerasuriya, K. Parameshwaran, Mahen Madugalla, Lahiru Jeewantha, Shehan C. Adikari, Sampath Kumara and Evon B. Gurusinghe.
