South African-born Kandy SC Rugby consultant and former Sri Lanka Rugby Head Coach Johan Taylor will be in Kandy during this month for a short stint with the up country club starting from 15 December. He will be having a few sessions with the players along with their new Coach Sean Wijesinghe.
Taylor came to Kandy SC in 2006 and won many titles for them in tandem becoming the best rugby club in the country. He coached Kandy till 2012 before returning to his country. Taylor was instrumental in bringing Sri Lanka to the Asian Five Nations top 5 in Singapore when they became champions. Once again Sri Lanka dropped down to Division I and it was Taylor who was the Head Coach bringing Sri Lanka back to the top 5 in Philippines under the leadership of Fazil Marija. Taylor who is a Level 3 Coach played most of his rugby in Ireland.
