Talawakelle Plantations continue winning streak

By Shamseer Jaleel The Talawakelle Plantations rugby team continued their winning streak to its sixth year when they overcame Malwatte Valley Plantations by 24/7 in the Cup Final at the inter-plantations seven-a-side rugby tournament organised by the Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club and sponsored by Agstar PLC which took place at Darawela last week-end. In the first semi-final encounter Talawakelle Plantations beat Pusselawa Plantations 12/7, while Malwatte Valley Plantations outclassed Hapugastenna Plantations 24/0 in the second semi-final. The Plate Championship was won by Watawala Plantations who beat Bogawantalawa Plantations 14/7 in the finals. Bowl final was battle between Kotagala Plantations and Agrapatana Plantations which the Kotagala Plantations won 21/0. First round Talawakelle beat Kelani Valley 38/0, Hapugastenna drew with Kahawatte 19/19, Watawala beat Agrapatana 36-0, Malwatte Valley beat Kotagala 40/-5. Bogawantalawa beat Kahawatte 17/0, Pussellawa beat Watawala 12/7, Hapugastenne beat Bogawantalawa 29/12, Pussellawa beat Agrapatana 38/0, Malwatte Valley beat Maturata 36/0.
