Champion driver Ashan Silva proved yet again that he is the gravel king by bagging the award for the champion driver at the Sigiriya Rallycross held recently.
Ashan secured pole position in both the SLGT upto 2000 CC and SLH-1600cc events on qualifying day.
He went on to win both race one and race two in spectacular fashion in the SLGT category in his Evolution 3, sponsored by WURTH and Causeway.
Despite a setback of mechanical failure in the SLH race one, where Ashan had to retire from the race while leading, he came back to win the SLH race two, starting from the back of the grid and fought for position to get the better of rival Pasidu Peries.
Ashan has firmly secured his position as Sri Lanka’s top driver with his truly impressive and unbeaten string of victories in all forms of motor sports ranging from karting, circuit racing, hill climbs and gravel racing and rallies.
The meet was organised by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and the Sri Lanka Auto Sports Drivers Association at the SLAF circuit in Sigiriya circuit. The meet was also attended by First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
