Sri Lanka, led by dashing Fly Half Fazil Marija, captured the Asian Division I when they overcame the hosts Philippines 27-14 in the final. Sri Lanka last captured the Division I title five years back under the same Head Coach Johan Taylor.

The Sri Lankan players will have a break for one week before training begins for the game against either Hong Kong or South Korea on 6 June. This will be an away game. The last placed team will play Sri Lanka in order for promotion and demotion for next year’s tournament.

Dhanushka Ranjan was judged as the Player of the Tournament. One unique thing in the tournament was that none of the Sri Lankan players received any yellow cards for any offences.
