Sri Lanka Under 18 outfit led by Joes player, Gemunu Cheethiya will lead the national outfit against Canada at the Youth Commonwealth Games 2017 which will be worked off today at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre in Bahamas.
Sri Lanka got the berth from Asian region at Under 18 level after their success in Hong Kong and Taipei under the leadership of Thomian player, Naveen Heenakankanmge. The outfit is full of talent with some outstanding players in the starting line up such as Mohamed Shabeer (St Anthony’s), Naveen Rarajaratnam, Warren Weerakoon, Vishwa Ranaraja(all from Trinity) and skipper Gemunu Cheethiya all top class youngsters.
The outfit is coached by Peter Woods (New Zealand) and Inthi Marrikar as the High Performance Director of Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) done a yeoman service in a short span of time with SLR.
