The Sri Lanka women’s rugby football outfit will represent the country in the Sevens version of the game when they lock horns with hosts China in their first group encounter at the China Rugby Sevens, which will be worked off on 5 and 6 September in Shanghai, China.
Sri Lanka will play against Hong Kong, Singapore and China in their group while Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Japan and Thailand will play in the other group. In total there will be eight women’s teams and 12 men’s teams at the first leg in China. The second leg will move to Thailand where only the men’s team will participate. The last installment of the Asian Series will move to Colombo in October when the Race Course Grounds hosts the tournament.
