The Sri Lanka youth rugby team will take part in the Asian Youth Rugby tournament’s first leg, which will be worked off in Johor Bharuo, Malaysia on 15 and 16 August.
The second leg will move to Hong Kong the following weekend (22 and 23 August) at the Hong Kong Football Stadium in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.
Sri Lanka will play in Group B along with hosts Malaysia and Taipei in the group stages. The top-seeded teams at this event are South Korea and Hong Kong. In the women’s category Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore will battle it out in the group stages.
The team will be selected today. The outfit is coached by former St. Peter’s and Science College Coach Colin Dinesh with Rajeev Perera assisting him.
