Despite losing the World Cup title to India Sri Lanka has managed to rank second at the Reliance ICC ODI Rankings table with a point above India.

Australia topped the table with 130 rating points despite their elimination at the quarter-final stage of the World Cup 2011 while runners-up Sri Lanka was second with 118 points.

In a release the ICC explained that the annual rankings update is carried out to ensure the Reliance ICC ODI Championship table continues to reflect recent form. As such, the new table only includes results from matches played after 1 August 2009, with older results from between 1 August 2008 - 31 July 2009 being discarded.

India has a win-loss ratio that is poorer than World Cup finalists Sri Lanka and quarter finalists Australia and South Africa, the ICC stated.

In the past 12 months, India has lost nine ODIs, including its last two ODIs against eighth ranked West Indies and one in the group stages of the ICC Cricket World Cup.
