COLOMBO (AFP) – Sri Lanka will host its rescheduled one-day series against the West Indies starting at the new Hambantota stadium in the island’s south on January 31, officials said Sunday.
Heavy rains in December forced the series to be scrapped. The games were to be played across the three World Cup venues in Hambantota, Colombo and the central region of Kandy.
All three games would now be day-night encounters at Hambantota and in Colombo, Sri Lanka Cricket said.
The series will be used by both teams to warm up ahead of the 2011 World Cup that will be co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from February 19 to April 2.
Itinerary:
Jan 31: 1st ODI, Suriyawewa Stadium, Hambantota
Feb 04: 2nd ODI, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
Feb 06: 3rd ODI, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
