Sri Lanka Navy (men’s) and Visakha Vidyalaya (women’s) stamped their class at the National Short Course Swimming Championship organised by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union which took place at the Hillwood College Swimming Complex in Kandy.
Ishani Senanayake clinched the best swimmer (women’s) while Mathew Abeysinghe (Men’s) swimmer at this event. Ishani Senanayake who represented Killer Whale Aquatics won five events plus creating a new record as well. Mathew Abeysinghe of Killer Whale Aquatics established two meet records and won six events.
In the women’s category Visakha Vidyalaya who emerged champions collected 301 points while Mahamaya Girls College Kandy scored 289 points to become second at this event. Finishing second runner-up was Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls College with 134 points. Fourth and fifth positions were occupied by Museaus College 93 points and Hillwood College Kandy 43 points.
In the championship for men, the Sri Lanka Navy led by Shehan de Silva 325 points and runners-up Killer Whale Aquatics had 299 points with lions share coming from the Abeysinghe brothers Matthew six wins and Kyle five wins. Second runner-up Lyceum International School was way down the line with 87 points. The fourth and fifth positions were occupied by St Joseph’s College for 86 points and Royal College 49 points.
