Sri Lanka Under 20 junior rugby players who participated at the last week’s club matches for Havelocks SC, Police SC, Navy SC and CR & FC will return for Junior National practices for the JWRT Singapore tour from tomorrow onwards.
Sri Lanka Head Coach Sanath Martis told the Daily FT: “We met the Director of Sports last morning and he agreed with us that all selected players could turn up for national duty and represent their respective clubs after the completion of the JWRT in Singapore. We will resume practices from today and want to focus on winning the tournament in Singapore. Our main opponent is Hong Kong.”
Already a 30 member pool was named in preparation for the Junior World Rugby Tournament (JWRT) which will take place in Singapore from 13-19 December. The touring 25 will be named one week before departure. Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore and Sri Lanka will feature in group encounters. Seven players each from Royal and Isipathana comprise the majority of the selected 30 players.
Sri Lanka will need to come on top in Singapore in order for Junior World Cup qualifications along with Japan
