Sri Lanka Youth rugby players led by Peterite Kevin Dixon ended the first round of the Youth Asian Rugby Football Tournament on a high note when they were placed second behind Hong Kong. The first round was worked off in Malaysia last week-end.
The second leg will move to Hong Kong on 21 August where it will continue the following day at Kings Park, Hong Kong. The bigger-made Hong Kong outfit, which edged out Sri Lanka 24-19 in the group encounter, went on to beat the Lankans in the Cup final 29-15.
The Sri Lanka outfit was strengthened with the inclusion of Science College skipper Lasindu Ishan and Isipathana three quarter Asitha Punchihewa. The outfit was coached by Colin Dinesh with Rajeev Perera assisting him.
Meanwhile, the Junior Rugby Asiad, known as the Junior World Rugby Tournament (JWRT) Division I, will be worked off in Singapore in early December with four teams participating.
