The fourth edition of Spinfit Sundown organised by Spinner, which acts as a fund-raiser for the cause ‘Re-Wheel Sri Lanka’, initiated with the simple motive of giving a bike to every child will be held on 13 August, at the Kimbulawela Walking Track. Organised as a sports-meet style event for every member of the family, Spinfit Sundown has become one of Sri Lanka’s most popular cycling and running events aimed at promoting an active, healthy lifestyle, reinforced through friendly competition.
Held quarterly since 2016, Spinfit Sundown has previously welcomed over 500 professional and amateur athletes through their extensive offering of kid’s, adult’s and mixed races; each competitor vying for the coveted title of ‘Champion’ in their respective events.
Statistics show that 25% of Sri Lankans suffer from diabetes with 25% of deaths in Sri Lanka due to heart related diseases. Through the initiative Spinner aims to inspire a wider community to get together and embrace an outdoor lifestyle while enjoying cycling and running. Please contact 0768716366 if you wish to donate or know of a disserving child.
Spinfit Sundown is organised by Spinner, under the leadership and guidance of Yasas Hewage – renowned Sales Coach, Marketer and Entrepreneur, who has continued to be an advocate for health and well-being in Sri Lanka. Through the quarterly event, Hewage and his team have worked diligently to support the ‘Re-Wheel’ Program. The Re-Wheel dream is to give every Sri Lankan child the joy of riding a bicycle and the wealth of health and confidence to win.
Spinfit Sundown has fast become the perfect platform to take Sri Lankan endurance athletes to an international standard, with support reigning in from avid cyclists and other athletes, as well as several corporate sponsors, such as HNB, SLT, F5, Prime Lands and JL Morrisons, without which whose support the event would not have such a far reach.
