The Southern Motor Sports Club, the pioneering motor sports club in the country’s south, will stage Rally Sri Lanka 2016 at Hingurana, Ampara from 5-7 August.
The ceremonial opening of the event will be held at the Ampara main ground at 8.00 p.m. on 5 August. The 500 km rally will be held in two stages, both of which start off at 7.00 a.m. on 6 and 7 August at the Ampara main ground. The first stage will end at 6.00 p.m. at the starting point on 6 August while stage two will end at 4.00 p.m. on 7 August. The prize giving will commence at 5.00 p.m. at the main ground.
The course for Rally Sri Lanka 2016 has been plotted by SMSC’s rally guru Andrew Silva, who is also the clerk of the meet, while the event is being organised by a committee headed by Ashshar Hamim.
Entries opened on 12 July and will close on 26 July. Late entries will not be accepted. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Southern Motor Sports Club website, www.rallysrilanka.com.
