SLPA Champions at the first ever Quadrangular Championship of the T20 cricket series for Namal Rajap

Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) emerged Champions at the first ever Quadrangular Championship of the T-20 cricket series for Namal Rajapaksa Challenge Trophy held over the weekend at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium at Sooriyawewa in Hambantota.



Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), Sri Lanka Salt Ltd; People’s Bank and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation who were selected the best four teams of the Nationalized Services Cricket Association (NSCA) for the year 2011, met at the Quadrangular Championship of the T20 cricket series for Namal Rajapaksa Challenge Trophy on 16 and 17 June at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium at Sooriyawewa in Hambantota.  The event was marked the first ever mega cricket series of this nature in the history of the NSCA.

At the finals SLPA won the toss and selected to field first. At the end of twenty overs Lanka Salt Corporation made a total of 134 runs for five wickets with two brilliant sixers where the SLPA in reply scored 137 runs in 19.2overs for five wickets.

Lassana Dias of SLPA was selected the Man of the Match. Best baller – Romesh Malaka of SLPA, Best Batsman – A. Nanayakkara of Lanka Salt Ltd; Man of the Year of the  first ever Quadrangular Championship of the T-20 cricket series for Namal Rajapaksa Challenge Trophy  2012 – Shehan Aravinda De Silva of SLPA.

SLPA Chairman Dr. Priyath B.Wickrama, Lanka Salt Chairman Pradeep Wijesiriwardhane; Chief Engineer (Southern Port Development) Agil Hewageegana,  Chief Engineer (Marine) Vijitha Abesundara, SLPA Deputy Chief Manager (Communication and Public Relations) Nalin Aponso, SLPA Sports Club General Secretary S.D.Weerasinghe, SLPA Sports Club Consultant (Sports) Sajith Fernando and the sponsors of the tournament were also present at the awards ceremony.
