Ruvini Kannangara, second year engineering student of SLIIT, the premier degree awarding institute, clinched three medals for table tennis at the recently-concluded South Asian Games in India. Ruvini has also been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the Perfect 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Malaysia.

Commenting on her performance, SLIIT President and CEO Prof. Lalith Gamage said: “We are extremely proud of Kannangara’s accomplishments. She has not only brought honour to SLIIT but also to our country. We will continue to support her and other students who excel both in and out of the classroom.”

“At SLIIT we firmly believe that participating in sports, clubs and societies is an important part of student life, since it creates memories, shapes personalities and builds lifelong friendships,” noted Prof. Gamage.

“SLIIT has given me the ability to balance my studies and participate in local and international table tennis tournaments. Although there is a lot of academic work in the Engineering degree program, I am truly grateful for my lecturers and peers who help me balance my studies and table tennis,” commented Kannangara.
