The three-member Independent Committee appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket convened its first meeting yesterday to discuss matters pertaining to allegations of foul play at a recently concluded Tier ‘B’ match.
The committee comprises Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee Asela Rekawa, former national player Jayantha Paranathala and head of Security and Investigations at SLC Sarathchandra Liyanage.
SLC officials have stated that the process will be expedited judiciously and a decision is to be reached. “The management of the SLC has categorically stated that it will not condone any illegal acts that destroys the spirit of the game or brings disrepute to the sport and the board,” a statement added.
