Australian Test cricket vice-captain Shane Watson and his wife Lee have revealed photographs of their newborn baby, Will.
A statement released by the couple said the mother and child are doing well since the birth on Thursday.
On Watson’s website, they thanked the public for respecting their privacy during their “special time”.
“This has been the most amazing week of our lives with the birth of our little boy,” Watson said.
Following Australia’s defeat in the third Test, Watson touched down in Australia from India fortuitously just in time for the birth of his first child after being suspended by coach Mickey Arthur for failing to submit a team assignment.
The happy snaps were released on the eve of the fourth Test in Dehli. Watson has since flown back to India and is likely to be captain should Michael Clarke not recover from his back injury.
It is understood that since his controversial suspension, Watson has patched up strained relations with High Performance Manager Pat Howard and Arthur.
“It’s been great to be able to have a few very good chats to Pat Howard,” Watson said.
“Constructive chats about the way we’re going to move forward, because it’s so important for us to be able to make sure we’re on the same page and that we are really moving forward.
“I had a great chat to Mickey Arthur as well, it’s been really good to be able to just nut out a few things.
“We’ve talked through a number of the different issues that we’ve had and unfortunately some of those were aired in the public for public consumption.
“But we put that behind us.”
