It was a nail-biting battle right from the beginning as both teams played their best to keep the crowd entertained.
The game was truly an up-and-down battle, with HNB holding a slender one-goal lead after the first quarter, while Seylan led at the end of both the second and the third quarters. Both teams opted to take their power plays in the fourth quarter. From the first whistle to the last, the teams were never separated by more than two goals, except when HNB took a five-goal lead deep into the fourth quarter. However, Seylan staged a remarkable comeback to register a thrilling victory over last year’s champions.
The tournament itself is unique in the fact that it has a power play feature – first introduced to the local scene by SriLankaSports.com. The power play is a period of time in which each goal is worth twice its value in points.
