Schools U19 womens cricket debuts

Sri Lanka Schools Cricket association with the assistance of Sri Lanka Cricket, will conduct girls U19 school tournament Island wide, for the first time in developing of Womens Cricket in schools.



This tournament will be conducted during the month of March 2013 as 20 over basis for active cricket playing schools.

Therefore, all girls Schools who are actively playing cricket are invited to take part as a trial run in the year 2013.

Girls from 13-19 years of age are eligible to take part and respective schools should apply through their Principal to Secretary Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association 35, Maitland Crescent Colombo 7, on or before 20 January 2013.

The aim of this tournament to start women’s cricket actively in girls’ school and to feed talented players to the Womens National team in the future.

Schools Cricket Association Secretary Dilshan De Silva, stated that he is delighted to have this tournament as a  trial run among active playing schools and to conduct Islandwide in the year 2014, improving infrastructure. He also thanked SLC for generous assistance to conduct this tournament.
