The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors will hold a celebrity event with former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Kumar Sangakkara on the novel topic ‘The sport in business’.
In what has been billed as a no-holds barred interview, Kumar is expected to draw parallels between driving a business and leading a cricket team.
Some of the topics that are to be covered by the Interviewer Ramesh Schaffter include: Pursuing a mission, building a winning team, hatching strategy, perfecting one’s game, mental preparedness and physical fitness, competing head to head internationally, dealing with the board, motivating the team, succession planning and recovering from failure and riding on success.
He is also to be questioned on his views about women in the game, celebrity status, big money and corruption in sports.
The event is being held to raise funds for SLID’s continuing program of helping SMEs and entrepreneurs in the provinces to run their businesses with best practices in good governance and corporate responsibility.
SLID has already held four seminars under this initiative in Kandy, Ratnapura, Trincomalee and Hambantota and has planned several more.
The proceeds will be shared with the ‘Foundation for goodness’ set up by Kushil Gunasekera, where a Board of Trustees including Kumar Sangakkara and a committed team are working to uplift the lives of rural communities in Sri Lanka. The event will take place on Friday 1 March at 6:00 p.m. at the Taj Samudra Ballroom.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors was set up as a forum to serve the corporate and professional development needs of Company Directors in private and public sector organisations and is the authoritative focal point on boardroom governance in Sri Lanka.
It has a diverse membership of over 500 professionals and directors from blue chips, quoted and unquoted private companies, family businesses and entrepreneurial ventures.
