Sampath Perera tipped to coach Antonians in cricket

Former D S Senanayake, BRC, Bloomfield CC, NCC and Trinity Head Coach, Sampath Perera will take up the Coaching stint at St Anthony’s College, Katugastota for their cricket season 2016/2017. Sampath after coaching Trinity had a short stint in Dubai at an academy run by former Sri Lankan cricketer, Aravinda De Silva and former Pakistan Cricketer turned commentator, Rameez Raja.

Sampath who was recommended for the Trinity job by Kumar Sangakkara, became the most successful coach from the time he took over in 2008/2009. He led the D S outfit in 1993/94 scoring over thousand runs in that season. He took Trinity in to 59 wins in 137 outings with only 6 games ending on the losing side. Sampath started his coaching career at SSC (2002 -2005) then moved to NCC (2005-2008). A level 3 qualified coach, Sampath obtained his certificate from Australia.

This season Antonians and Trinity will play in their 100th battle which will take place at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium in March 2017.
