Sri Lanka secured third place in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under 13 tournament sponsored by Samaposha, flagship brand of Plenty Foods (Pvt.) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL).
The tournament which was held in leagues saw the Indian team emerge champions wining all five games and bagging 15 points. Iran emerged first-runners up winning four games and claiming 12 points while Sri Lanka won three out five games and claimed nine points.
The tournament which was organized by the Sri Lanka Football Federation in collaboration with the Asian Football Federation saw six countries participate which are Bhutan, Iran, Jordan, India Palestine and Sri Lanka.
On the sidelines of the tournament a special training camp was held for which trainers, physiotherapists, coaches, umpires and team managers from teams. It was open to football players, coaches and physiotherapists from around Sri Lanka who had chance to gain an international experience right at home.
Chief Guest of the closing ceremony, Mr. Shammi Karunaratne, Director/CEO of Plenty Foods (Pvt.) Ltd, presented awards to the winners.
