Rugby Rumble will once again take place for the second consecutive year at the CR&FC rugby grounds at Longdon place on 5 and 6 September.
The intention of this event is to bring back the old memories with the oval shaped ball game and to allow the families to have a good time. A total of 26 teams will participate in the tournament which a significant increase compared to the first year. The games will be played according to tag rugby rules and will be based on a round robin format.
One of the special inclusions in this year’s event is that it will be featuring Dave Crane as its host. Crane is one of the most experienced talk show and event hosts and also is the host at the World Rugby first event in the world series in Dubai. In addition to Dave, Saturday night will conclude with an after party featuring digital artist, DJ Hanna.
While the party atmosphere will prevail all throughout the two days, the additive in the Rugby Rumble is the legends game which will be the game between the Old Havelock players and the Old CR&FC players.
A set of veterans who donned the jerseys of these two clubs are expected to play the exhibition tag rugby game that includes Chula Dharmadasa, Ravi Gunaratne, Ted Muttiah and Jehan CanagaRatna. There will be a prize money of Rs. 250,000 on offer for the winners of the over 20 title and the other titles on offer will be the Plate, Bowl and Shield.
