Science College Mount Lavinia created history by beating Royal College 52 points (six goals, two tries) to 26 points (three goals, one try) at Havelock Park yesterday to book themselves a place in the finals of the Milo Knockout competition.
At halftime Science College led 38-5.
This was Royal’s first defeat of the season after claiming the Singer League last month. Science played some stunning rugby. Their skipper and Number 8 Lasindu Ishan was outstanding in shredding the Royal defence into pieces on a number of occasions. Scrum half Hashan Madumada, Centre Thanuja Kandambi and Fullback Supun Dilshan too played their hearts out for the Mount Lavinia School. For Royal, skipper Banuka Peris and Keshan Peris played well. Royal played without five of their regulars for this encounter.
Science College will now play defending champions Isipathana in the final on 12 July. The referee for the game between Science College and Royal was Priyantha Gunaratne.
