The Royal College Union (RCU) last week formally introduced one of its very ambitious projects to-date, the ‘Floreat’ privilege card at a press conference held at the Royal College Union office. The event was attended by distinguished members of the Royal College Union, representatives of the vendors who have partnered with the privilege card, representatives from Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel – technological partner for the project and members of the media. Floreat is a privilege card program which was established under the Royal College Union. The primary objective of this program is to form a strong bond between the products and services presented by esteemed commercial organisations and members of the Royal College Union. As an integral part of the Royal College crest the word ‘Floreat’ is Latin for ‘Flourish’, and therefore embodies the primary purpose of introducing the privilege card, which is to strengthen and grow all parties concerned. Proceeds from the program are to be used for the infrastructure development of the school.                 Using the latest technology and partnering with the most recognised service providers, the Floreat privilege card will be the first of its kind universal privilege card to be introduced by an educational institute in Sri Lanka. Vendors from various sectors like travel and holiday, wine and dine, lifestyle compliments, shopping and retail, good health, books and education, automobile, and daily essentials have signed up to provide exclusive benefits and offers to cardholders. The card was initially launched to current Royal College Union members who are professionals in their respective fields of expertise and have the power to endorse the Floreat card to other prospective members. Thereafter, the card will also be marketed to members at various Royal College Union events, thereby growing the membership base. Developing an online platform to assist in the growth of the card network is also in the pipeline. Made available directly from the Royal College Union office or via the dedicated Floreat website, the card will also with the growth of the network be opened to immediate family members of Royal College Union members in the near future.
