Ritzbury powered John Tarbet Senior Athletics Championship concludes with over 20 new meet records

The 83rd Sir John Tarbet Senior Athletic Championship organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association (SLSAA) under the sponsorship of Ritzbury concluded at the Sugathadasa stadium. While A. Ratnayake Central Walala emerged champions in the girls’ category, the dominant performers, Maris Stella College Negombo, grabbed the title in the boys’ category. The prize giving was held under the patronage

of CBL Foods International Ltd. Marketing Manager Nilupul De Silva. Maris Stella secured 137 points, with A. Ratnayake Central Walala coming in second place, with 107 points. Meanwhile in the girls’ category, A. Ratnayake Central Walala obtained 193 points with St. Joseph’s Balika Vidyala Kegalle, with 135 points. “Sponsoring the oldest schools athletic championship for the second consecutive year, has once again given us the opportunity to support young athletes throughout the country. Ritzbury is glad to be associated with such a prestigious event and we hope to continue this successful partnership with the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association and other sporting bodies in the country,” said Nilupul De Silva. After three days of intense competition, sprinter, Rumeshika Ratnayake of St. Joseph’s Balika Vidyala Kegalle and hurdler, Supun Viraj Randeniya of Ranabima Royal College were adjudged the best athletes of the meet. Ritzbury has been continuously supporting Sri Lanka’s sports discipline and is the regular sponsor of many sporting events throughout the year.
