Richmond make winning start to season

By Shamseer Jaleel Defending school cricket champions Richmond College Galle started off the Under-19 school season on a winning note when they beat Kingswood College Kandy by an innings and 17 runs, at the Police Grounds in Kandy yesterday. After scoring 278 for 6, Richmond declared and had the Kingswoodians in deep trouble at 69 for 8 at the close of play. Today Kingswood ended their first innings on 129 just before lunch. After following on once again the, Randles Hills school could manage only 132 all out in their second innings. The main destroyer in the second innings was Galle leg spinner Banuka Maddumapriya who was unplayable with a five-wicket haul. Charith Asalanka chipped in with 8 wickets in the match.
