The Red Bull Tuk Tuk Rally takes flight in November in the Cultural Triangle. The trio of Habarana, Sigiriya and Dambulla will see decked-out three-wheelers whizzing around in an attempt at victory in the first ever Red Bull Tuk Tuk Rally.

Yet another first, Red Bull created the first-ever tuk tuk event which will imitate real-life rally car racing. The rally will test the endurance, skill and strength of each team comprising of two – the driver and navigator.

The three-wheelers, fondly referred to as tuk tuks, will be required to maneuver the narrow byroads of the three host cities. There will be several checkpoints to aid and assist the teams. Since it is the inaugural event, the route map will be a closely guarded secret to ensure the event is run in a fair manner.

The different terrains that will need to be endured include gravel, tarmac, mud, rock, broken culwerts, causeways, and river bunds. The special stages will include testing the teams against obstacles of the nature of mud pools, uneven articulation, cones, rock stages etc. The event will take over 24 and 25 November in Dambulla, Sigiriya and Habarana. Admission to watch the event is free.
