Rain plays havoc with MCA Cricket

Rain once again played havoc with MCA Cricket, when 14 teams went home empty-handed and the remaining played in bits and pieces in the ongoing MCA “F” division 25 Over League Tournament 2016, which continued last weekend. 

The players who hogged the limelight despite the rain were: Buddhi Ekanayake (55) and Dulanja Lakmal (53) from HSBC “C” (engaged in a 105 runs opening stand in 83 balls Vs. Tin Pack); Opening batsman, Krishan Rajendran from MJF Exports (97 not out in 49 balls inclusive of 06 sixes and 12 fours Vs. CMA –CGM Containers); opening batsman Tharanga Indika from Nippon Paint (81 not out in 34 balls, inclusive of 07 sixes and 05 fours Vs. United Tractors); Kushan Akalanka from Union Bank (79 in 54 balls, inclusive of 04 sixes and 08 fours Vs Coats Thread) and Premesh Perera from Allianz Insurance (4.4 – 19 – 5 Vs. Bharti Airtel)

MCA/morning: South Asia Gateway Terminal beat Allianz Insurance by 08 wickets; Allianz Insurance – 122 (21.4); SAGT – given a revised target of scoring 69 in 14 overs due to a rain stoppage – 70/2 (11.1)

MCA/afternoon: HNB “B” beat Bharti Airtel by 08 wickets (match reduced to 21 overs a side, due to wet ground conditions); Airtel – 76 (20.2); HNB “B” - 77/2 (8.1)

Campbell Park/morning: Brandix “B” beat MBSL Insurance on a faster run rate;

Panadura/morning: Copal Amba beat MAC Holdings by 09 wickets; MAC Holdings – 98/7 (18.2 when rain halted play); Copal Amba - given a revised target of 54 runs in 10 overs – 58/1 (7.1)

Panadura/afternoon: Arpico SC beat Hirdaramani’s by 06 wickets; Hirdaramani 108 (20.4); Arpico – 109/4 (14.5)

Veyangoda: Janashakthi Vs. Tin Pack & MJF Exports Vs. Nippon Paint were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
