Rain and Lankan misery were common at the third and final test with England at Rose Bowl.

At the time this edition went to press, Sri Lanka was struggling at 177 for 9 in 61 overs as rain stopped play which too began after a late start due to showers in the morning.

Sri Lanka which entered the second day at 81 for 4 collapsed dramatically. Chris Tremlett was the hero for England bagging six wickets and registering his best ever figures in a Test match (6-42) to date.

Only 38 overs were possible on the first day and bad light and intermittent rain disrupted play on the second day as well. Sri Lanka needs to win the third test to square the series.

Prasanna Jayawardena who remained not out on Thursday scored 43 before being caught by Morgan off Graeme Swann. Prasanna fell seven runs short of a 50. His innings lasting 104 balls had 5 fours. The other overnight batsman Thilan Samarweera was out for 31 off 74 balls. Rangana Herath scored 12 whilst at the time this edition went to press Lankan paceman Dilhara Fernando was not out 33 whilst Chanaka Welegedera was unbeaten 7.
