The much-looked-forward-to Pulsar Power Race scheduled on 14 October at the Pannala Speed Drome is the latest buzz amongst bike enthusiasts across the country.
Organised by David Pieris Motor Company Ltd., the Pulsar Power Race is an amateur race thrown wide open to Pulsar 135 cc and 150 cc bike owners. The race offers exciting cash prizes and trophies for the top three winners, which is bound to make the event even more memorable. The program, which kicked off in September calling for entries, saw a high volume of eager entrants vying for the all-important first stage selection process.
The selection process was carefully carried out on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis by officials of DPMC based on fulfilling the criteria set-out by the company such as riders age, fitness, validity of riding license and authenticity of un-modified Pulsar 135 cc and 150 cc Motorcycles. Entry forms were made available at all DPMC regional and sales offices islandwide. DPMC’s islandwide network which is the largest automotive network in Sri Lanka, was largely instrumental in facilitating riders to easy access of entry forms.
An exclusive training program for the selected riders was held at the Pannala Speed Drome itself where specially brought down skilled Indian trainers advised and demonstrated key aspects of safety and high speed riding techniques to the riders. The team of international trainers imparted valuable insights in the finer points of riding and racing through both theory and practical lessons. Pulsar riders were then called on to demonstrate their learning under the watchful eyes of the trainers.
The two-day skills and safety training program was immensely beneficial as all participants showed amazing improvement and results after receiving their training.
The large gathering of officials, fans and media which were present at this landmark event were treated to a glimpse of what is on offer as the riders get set to burn the tracks at the Grand Pulsar Power Race which is scheduled to be flagged off on 13 and 14 October at the Pannala Speed Drome. Time trials are scheduled for 13 October while 14 October is Race Day.
