The grand finale of the President’s Gold Cup Dialog Volleyball Tournament will take place at the Davisamara Maha Vidyalaya, Jeyaraj Fernandopulle Indoor Volleyball Stadium, Seeduwa today at 1 p.m.
With an island-wide participation of over 48,000 players, the tournament is one of the largest sporting events held in the country, attracting over 4,000 teams this year.
The tournament will conclude with the women’s finals which will commence at 1 p.m. and the men’s final from 3 to 5.30 p.m.
President Maithripala Sirisena will grace the grand finals as the Chief Guest while Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera will be the Guest of Honour.
The event hosted by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation was conducted over a period of six months and attracted teams from over 300 Grama Seva Divisions including the North and East, which in turn was elevated to district level and finally national level.
The winners, first and second runners up of the tournament in both the men’s and women’s category will receive trophies and cash prizes, whilst special awards will be presented to the best players of the tournament.

Nalaka said. “The aggressive program to develop the country’s national sport at the grassroots level by the Volleyball Federation of Sri Lanka has paid rich dividends to the sport and has raised the bar of the game.”
