President Maithripala Sirisena appointed veteran cricketers Muttiah Muralitharan and Thilakaratne Dilshan as brand ambassadors of the National Kidney Fund, which was established in line with the sustainable program to control kidney disease, according to the concept of the President.
The appointments were made before the start of the T20 cricket match at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on 1 August.
President Sirisena also cordially welcomed the cricketers of the Sri Lanka and Pakistan teams playing the match.
Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Sidath Wettimuny presented a cheque for Rs. 1 million for the project to President Sirisena.
The President also inscribed a message in a souvenir to mark the occasion. Thereafter, he joined the audience to watch the match.
Secretary to the President, P. B. Abeykoon, also was present at the occasion.
