Pre-quarter finals of MCA “G” division 25 Over League Tournament this weekend

The pre quarter finals of 7th Stafford Motor Co. sponsored, “Honda” Trophy MCA “G” division 25 Over League Tournament 2017 will be worked off this weekend.

On Saturday, 15 July, at MCA – Maliban Biscuits Vs. First Choice (morning); Deutsche Bank AG Vs. Pearson Lanka (afternoon) and at Mattegoda: Aitken Spence Group Vs. Micro Holdings (morning) Coutaulds Clothing Vs. Avery Dennison (afternoon).

On Sunday, 16 July, at MCA: Pyramid Wilmer Vs. Asiri Hospitals (morning); Sri Lanka Telecom Vs. DIMO “B” (afternoon) and at Mattegoda: Interpharm Vs. A. Baur & Co. (morning); HNB “B” Vs. Coca Cola Beverages (afternoon).

Last weekend the final batch of the league round matches was marred by rain, thus 5 games ended sans a result.

The top performers for the week-end were: Trevin Fernando from HNB “B” (104 in 51 balls, inclusive of 6 sixes and 12 fours Vs. CEAT Kelani); Trevin together with Dinesh Panditharatne put on 127 runs for the 3rd wicket in 73 balls as HNB ‘B” finished their 25 overs on a high note – 213 for 5; Nadeeka Sampath from Mobitel “B” (76 in 53 balls inclusive of 6 sixes and 4 fours Vs. Pearson Lanka); the opening stand of 137 runs in 92 balls between K. Shabeekan (55) and K. Kariyawasam (67) from HNB Assurance Vs. Jetwing Travels ; opening bowler, Sachitha Caldera from ShipXpress (5-21-5 Vs. Avian Technologies). 

The top team score was 253 for 7 in 25 by HNB Assurance Vs. Jetwing Travels and the lowest was 59 all out in 13.5 overs by Avian Technologies Vs. ShipXpress.

Darley Road/afternoon: Match reduced to 22 overs a side; Mobitel “B” (132/5 in 21) lost to Pearson Lanka (63/1 in 8.1) Pearson Lanka was given a revised target of 107 in 15 overs, was 63 for 1 in 8.1 overs when bad light halted play, thus winning by 09 wkts on DLS method. 

Kotahena/morning: HNB Assurance (253/7 in 25) beat Jetwing Travels (173 in 21.2) by 80 runs.

Kotahena/afternoon: Tea & Herbs Co. (87 in 22.2 ) lost to Pyramid Wilmer (91/1 in 7) by 07 wkts. 

Thurstan/morning: DPMC “B” Vs. MAS Active “D” was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to bad weather.
