People’s Bank Sports Meet a grand success!

The final showdown of the sports fiesta organised by the Sports Club of the People’s Bank was held on a grand scale on 6 and 7 September at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy amidst the enthusiastic participation of over 2,000 sporting staff members representing all regions. The two days were dedicated to host the final round contests of all key events where the Trincomalee Region bagged the championship for Cricket while the Colombo South Region bagged the championship in Football.

The Puttalam Region was victorious in the Volleyball segment while the winners in the Netball segment were the Nuwara Eliya Region. The People’s Bankers also proved their muscle power by taking part in the tug-o-war competition, which saw the Vanni Region winning the Men’s challenge, while the Kandy Region won the Women’s challenge. The inauguration of the People’s Bank Sports Meet was held under the patronage of People’s Bank Board Director and Secretary, Ministry of Cooperative and Internal Trade, P. K. D. Amarawardane and included N. Vasantha Kumar, CEO/GM of the Bank. Members of the Corporate and Executive Management also attended the event.
