The newly refurbished cricket indoor nets at Maitland Place, Colombo 7 will be opened by Srima Dissanayake, wife of the late Gamini Dissanayake, in the presence of Mahindananda Aluthgamage Minister of Sports on Friday, 23 November at 5 p.m.
The cricket indoor nets have been refurbished to comply with modern international standards, after a lapse of 28 years. The nets were first constructed on a lease of land obtained from the NCC by the Sri Lanka Cricket Foundation, then headed by Gamini Dissanayake, Chairman SLCF in 1984. The indoor net practice facility has served Sri Lanka’s national and club level players and visiting foreign teams immensely over the years.
The cricketing fraternity, including past and present Sri Lanka cricketers and officials, has been invited by the Board of Trustees to attend the opening of the refurbished indoor cricket nets which will be named as the Gamini Dissanayake Indoor Cricket Nets.
