Fazil Marija is expected to play the full game against Police today
Shamseer Jaleel reporting
from Kandy
Kandy Sports Club will be playing their second home game this season when they lock horns with Police Sports Club in their first round Inter Club Rugby League encounter which will be played at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium today. Kandy is expected to have things their way when they play the seventh-placed Police out of eight teams in the League this year around.
Kick-off is scheduled at 4 p.m.
Kandy recovered well last weekend after their shock defeat to Air Force after lapse of more than three decades. They already beat CH & FC (96/0) and Army SC (34/10).
Kandy, the defending champions, will be all out for the kill and go out for bonus points in front of their home crowd. They will have a strong three quarter line with Fazil Marija, Dhanushka Ranjan, Richard Dharmapala, Arshard Jamaldeen and Kanchana Ramanayake in their back line.
Skipper Roshan Weeraratne will operate from the base with Srinarth Sooriyabandara likely to replace in the later half. Jason Dissanayake will not be able to take the field due to CR & FC not giving the green light to represent Kandy SC.
Meanwhile the Cops having an off color season losing all their three games will be expecting their work horse Musheen Faleel to lead from the front with ample support expected from the former Randles schoolboys Sansoni and Reza Rafaideen.
Leading Referee Dinka Peiris will officiate this game.
