Nimal Wettimuny walked away with the Donald Steel Trophy 2017 at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort last weekend.
The golf tournament, which has been taking place since 1999, was chiefly sponsored by Orange Electrics with SriLankan Airlines, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, Cinnamon Air, Asian Pacific Breweries and Sun Aqua Water coming in as co-sponsors.
South Asia’s best golf course attracted 92 participants from different countries, including many top-class Sri Lankan golfers, for this annual event. Defending champion Sidath Wettimuny emerged as a runner-up in the main event, losing out to his brother Nimal. Ladies Gross winner Anouk Chitty was awarded the Pam Fernando trophy.
