Dayasiri Jayasekara was briefed on the operational plans underway at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) when he paid his first visit to its headquarters after being appointed Sports Minister.
Jayasekera held closed-door discussions with the SLC interim committee including SLC Vice Presidents Kushil Gunasekara and Kapila Wijegunawardene, SLC Secretary Prakash Schaffter, Nuski Mohamed, Jayananda Warnaweera, and Head of Cricket Operations and Acting SLC CEO Carlton Bernardus.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Jayasekara said that, at the moment, his primary focus was on holding SLC board elections before December. He also expressed his satisfaction at the current progress made by the interim committee and the plans they had put in motion.
Earlier this week, Minister Jayasekara stated that he would introduce a national sports policy within the next two years and that elections for all sports bodies would be conducted soon.
