Sri Lanka Cricket President Upali Dharmadasa yesterday promised that new contracts for national players will be signed before 25 July. He gave this assurance in response to questions from media at yesterday’s launch of Sri Lanka Premier League ahead of its start on 10 August.
“Even today we discussed about the renewal of contracts and I have assured the team that this will be done before 25 July,” Dharmadasa said. According to SLC officials, due to the recent busy program the matter was delayed. Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Mahela Jayawardena said players hope to finalise the national contract before signing up agreements for SLPL.
