Amidst fan fare provided by the Navy Cultural Troupe, Navin Samarasinghe and Sharya Guruge were crowned Squash National Champions for 2011.
Men’s Open National Squash Champion Navin Samarasinghe – a six-time National Champion – repeated his performance for the seventh time, whilst the Women’s Open National Squash Champion Sharya Guruge won this event for the first time.
Udaya Senevirathne, Secretary to the Minister of Sports, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at this prestigious squash tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Squash Federation, stated that it was a pleasure to watch the finals of the Men’s open event as the game was of a very high standard, lasting for more than one hour and both players producing champion squash.
