Nation Lanka Finance sponsored Havelock’s crowned Rugby League Champions 2012

Nation Lanka Finance PLC is indeed proud to have been associated with Havelock’s sports club as their principal sponsor for the current season when the park club emerged league champions for the year 2012 after a lapse of 31 years, overcoming some of the more fancied clubs.

Havelock’s, a pioneering rugby playing club and a favourite gathering place and watering hole for some of Colombo’s elite in a bygone era ran into neglect and abandonment in the recent past  due to lack of support and patronage.

However, as Nation Lanka Finance witnessed a change in their Board of Directors with the Company being taken over by a consortium led by yester year rugby stalwart Asanga Seneviratne the park club witnessed a change in their fortunes as Nation Lanka decided as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility to give Havelock’s sports club a face lift and the addition of more facilities for their patrons.

This move, apart from benefitting the club as a whole also gave the individual players a fillip and boosted their moral to do better, resulting in this giant leap forward after a lapse of so many years.      

Nation Lanka Finance went a step further and granted gainful employment opportunities to many of the club’s players thereby creating a win – win situation for both the Company as well as the players. Nation Lanka is determined to maintain their commitment towards Havelock’s sports club and seeing the club through and bringing it back to its pristine glory.
