Australia’s Mike Harwood won the SriLankan Airlines Asia Pacific Senior Golf Masters 2012 played at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Kandy over the weekend.
Mike, the former USA PGA Tour card holder, finished with a gross combined score of 136 points. Over 60 Professional Golfers and 30 amateurs, including leading local golfers participated in the tournament.
The First Runners-up position saw a tie between Noppajak Meesom of Thailand and Ahmed Bateman of Canada, both players finishing with a combined gross score for the two days, on 143 points each.
Meesom unseated compatriot Jamnian Chitprasong, winner of the Asia Pacific Champions tour who was at close of play in round 1 on Friday, sailing in second place just behind Harwood, but was overwhelmed in the final stages on Saturday.
Winners were rewarded with $ 6,500 in cash and a five day golf holiday in Bangkok.
Organised in collaboration with International Golf solutions, the tournament was another initiative of the national carrier in taking Sri Lanka to the world and seeks to promote Sri Lanka as a multi-attraction destination which offers discerning golfers a destination beyond just golden beaches, misty mountains and cultural heritage.
