The Mercedes Trophy, with a renowned international golf tournament reputation, is once again here to transform a pure sporting extravaganza into a ‘lifestyle brand experience’. The participants of this tournament comprise of distinguished achievers from all walks of life and many find this event a great opportunity to meet and interact with other Mercedes-Benz owners.

Sri Lanka’s top golfing community will be gathering at the Victoria Golf Club on 9 June for the Mercedes Trophy Sri Lanka Country Finals. Diesel & Motor Engineering, General Distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Sri Lanka is sponsoring the Mercedes Trophy this year for the 21st consecutive time.
This event promises to gather the most elite golfing community and boasts to be the most exclusive sporting event in the Sri Lankan sporting calendar, where participation is limited to owners of Mercedes-Benz, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles.
Moreover, this is a highly anticipated tournament among the golfing fraternity solely due to the prestige and the rewards which await the winners. The winners stand the chance to compete in the Mercedes Trophy Asian Finals and if successful compete in the world finals in Germany.
The climax of the series is the world final, which for years has been held traditionally in and around Stuttgart, the “cradle of the automobile”. This venue underlines the close relations between the brand Mercedes-Benz and golf. The top winners in each handicap categories will qualify for the Asian final, with an all expenses paid trip to Australia. The winner of each handicap category at the Asian Final will qualify for the World Final in Stuttgart, Germany.
Within these 20 years, more than 120 golfers from Sri Lanka have taken part in the Asian Finals, while 20 of those golfers performed well enough to be eligible to participate in the World Finals. Four Sri Lankan golfers have so far reached the pinnacle of Mercedes Trophy by becoming winners - Capt. Navin De Silva, Jude Rayan, Janaka Tebuwana and Usha De Silva.
This year’s Asian Finals will played in Australia from 8 to 10 August, and the World Finals will be played in Stuttgart from 13 to 17 September.
