Melbourne Bushrangers beaten by the Saints

The touring Melbourne Bushrangers youth cricket team were beaten by St. Peter’s College and St. Joseph’s College under 17 teams in back to back games played over the past 2 days at NCC Grounds and St. Benedict’s College grounds respectively.

In the game against St. Peter’s, Melbourne Bushrangers scored 185 all out in the 50th over. Jack Rudd top scored with 45, Donovan Pell scored 32, Jayden Borg 30 and Ned Taylor 22. Julian De Zilwa took 3 for 15 off his 10 overs.

St. Peter’s in reply reached their target for the loss of 7 wickets in the 37th over. Julian De Zilwa made 63 to cap a great all round performance. Sam James took 3 for 32 and Kieran Sheehan 2 for 25.

In the game against St Joseph’s, Melbourne Bushrangers went down by 10 runs. St. Joseph’s batting first rattled up 264 all out in the 50th over. Yeannich Ruzi was the top scorer with 54, Duran de Alwis made 45 and Shehan Perera 41. Sam James was amongst the wickets again with 4 for 37. Melbourne Bushrangers made a brave effort to chase down their target and were all out for 254 in the 48th over. Jayden Borg top scored with 56, Jack Rudd 42, Seamus Feery 34 and Donovan Pell 26.

Melbourne Bushrangers end their Sri Lankan tour with two T20 games on Friday.
