England “Lions’ won the first unofficial “Test” match by 196 runs at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium when they raped up shortly after the lunch break on day 4.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ who commenced yesterday at 41 for 2 chasing a mammoth target of 365 were shot out for a low 169 shortly after lunch on the final day. Only Jayasundera batted with some authority scoring an unbeaten 64. His knock included 5 boundaries and 3 massive six’s. He was well supported by number 10 batsman, Asitha Fernando who stroked an elegant 30. Sri Lanka after being placed 9 down for 115 put on 54 runs for the 10th wicket which gave some respectability for the score card.
