MAS Unichela take on MAS Active in MCA Premier League 2012 Knock-Out today

MAS Unichela will be looking for sweet revenge when they confront their sister company, MAS Active in the 19th Singer-MCA Premier League 2012 Knock-Out Tournament Final, 2 December at the SSC grounds, commencing 9.45 a.m.

MAS Active, the current unbeaten League winner will come out all  guns firing to wrest the elusive “double”.

MAS Active holds the credit of beating MAS Unichela by a convincing margin of 65 runs in their league outing on 6 November at Katunayake.

In the 2011 K-O tournament Final MAS Unichela lost to Seylan Bank by two wickets at the Colts Grounds.

MAS Unichela bagged two MCA titles last season, winning the open “sixes” and the MCA “Centenary Year” Invitational 20+20 super tournament.

MCA Unichela  team will be further strengthen with the return of T. M. Dilshan, Dilhara Fernando, Chamara Silva and Dilruwan Perera after their  dessert tour with the National Team against Pakistan.

MAS Unichela will unleash former, Sri Lanka leg-spinner, Malinga Bandara, who has performed brilliantly in both segments of the tournament, bagging 23-wickets in 08 matches.

Young, Kusal Janith has shone with the bat for Unichela with a century against Sampath Bank (136), 65 not out   Vs. Seylan Bank, 66 Vs.  John Keells and 67 Vs.  ETI in the league stage matches.

In the semi-finals, MAS Unichela had a narrow shave against John Keells at the BRC Grounds. They just managed a 14-runs win thanks to the gusty innings by Shalika Karunanayake (75) and their spinners, Malinda Warnapura (4/34) and Sohan Boralessa (3/30).Young, Dilshan Munaweera came up with a sterling century (129 not out) to propel MAS Active to beat the experienced HNB by five wickets in the other Semi-final. MAS Active playing only their second season in the MCA “Big” league is led by versatile all rounder, Jeewantha Kulathunga once again.

Malin Silva, who is well remembered for his brilliant lone effort century against Seylan Bank in the previous K-O final, will lead MAS Unichela. The Final was postponed from 26 November, due to inclement weather. If the weather refrains from playing spoil sport once again, the game is bound to explored, as it is a keg of powder with a short-fuse.
