Madushan Mannapperuma, son of veteran racing driver Sumanapala Mannapperuma, was awarded the prestigious National Tarmac Racing Championship 2015 for his excellent consistent performance in the Group SL – Special Cars up to 1500cc tarmac races, at the recently concluded Sri Lanka Automobile Sports awards ceremony.
The young Mannapperuma, hailing from a family of racing, has yet again proved that his skill behind the wheel is indeed a testimony to the Mannapperumas’ passion for cars and motor racing. Madushan began motor racing as a teenager under the encouraging guidance of his father and mother – Manel Mannapperuma, who herself was an award-winning lady racing driver of the years gone by.Speaking about his achievement, Madushan spoke fondly of his father who has always been the wind beneath his wings. He was also thankful to Sajad Zuhair and his team at Auto Force and Zaky Ismail of Tuned iChips for fixing his racing car to be a very competitive and reliable one. The Sri Lanka Automobile Sports Council awards ceremony which was concluded on 12 February at the Sports Ministry, felicitated the racing drivers who excelled in their respective motor racing championship events concluded in the year 2015.
